Press Release – July 18, 2017

Public comment invited on proposed school system policy updates

The Coweta County Board of Education has placed two proposed policy changes on the table for 30 days for public comment.

The proposed policies can be found on the eBOARDsolutions site on the Coweta County School System homepage (go to and select the link for ‘School Board Meetings/Policy Manual' on the left side of the page, or follow the direct link, above).

The proposed policies can be found by selecting the “Policies” tab at the top of the eBOARDsolutions page, and then scrolling down the left-hand links within site and selecting “Pending for Public Comments” located at the bottom of the list. The text in each policy highlights proposed changes and comment sections are provided at the bottom of each page.

Policies placed on the table at the Board’s July 11 meeting included:

  • Policy JBCD - Transfer and Withdrawals. The proposed policy change adds a definition of school attendance eligibility and responsibilities of military service members with school-age children residing in the district.
  • Policy IDCH - Dual Enrollment - Move on When Ready. The proposed policy change adds a definition of the eligibility of students taking one or more dual-enrollment courses in high school to be Valedictorian or Salutatorian.

The policy changes were reviewed at the school board’s July 11 regular meeting, and were tabled for public review before final action. The Board of Education welcomes public comment on the proposals before considering the changes at their August regular board meeting.
